There are things that I love and hate about the stock market. The hate part is pretty simple to describe. It’s loaded with some pretty crappy people. From Goldman Sachs to Optiver; it’s wall-to-wall crooks, liars and thieves. The Wall Street professionals and the pump and dump penny-stock con artists are in a race to the bottom, the only difference between those camps is the quality of their suits – they’re both rotten to the core.
When you deal with Wall Street day after day – and you see how willing they are to harm other people for the sake of a few bucks – it can throw a shadow over your love for humanity. But I found the antidote for that yesterday.
Eva Markvoort.
After I digested that trailer, I decided to look at Eva’s blog. I must click on a hundred hyperlinks a day. Most are meaningless. I was not prepared for the journey that followed when I clicked-thru to 65 Red Roses and I spent the better part of an emotional hour reading through Eva’s posts, digesting the heart-breaking truth of her situation and admiring her grace, courage and beauty. It might be a strange thing to hold someone that you have never met in your heart, but I did. And as the documentary and Eva’s story spreads out across the globe, millions of people will have that very same experience.
In a better world, we’d all be short Goldman Sachs and long Eva Markvoort. And we’d all be much better for it.
Click-thru to 65 Red Roses and send Eva your best wishes.
Definitely agree with you Kav. I felt the same way reading about Eva’s story. I hope the documentary is going to spread out wider than it is right now. It’s a shame we see all type of garbage movies in theater and rotten TV shows but a poignant real story like 65 red roses doesn’t get the attention it deserves.
I thought you’d like to know, if you haven’t already heard, that Oprah picked up Eva’s documentary for her new OWN network. I also have cystic fibrosis, so I’m very glad to know Eva’s story is getting out there. Most people have never heard of CF, and many who have don’t actually know what it’s all about. I really hope this documentary helps to raise awareness for the cystic fibrosis community. Thank you for caring about this, it’s an amazing feeling to know people outside our little world are finally taking notice.
I did not know that Oprah picked up the documentary. That is good news, it should help quite a bit. Thanks for posting.
